Signs

There are rules and requirements on how, where and when signs should be used at airports and what type of sign that should be used.
Signs shall display either permanent or variable messages. The signs must convey orders, information about special positions, destinations in the travel area or other information.

Examples of signs installed at airports:

- Mandatory instruction signs
- Location signs
- Direction signs
- Destination signs
- Information signs
- Runway distance remaining signs

The signs must be of fragile construction. Signs located near runways or taxiways must be low enough to allow clearance for propellers and for aircraft engines.
